February 24th

Hello!
I can't believe how time flies in between  posts on here! All is well here with us. The kids are good. Griffin had an ear infection and Savannah had a sore throat for awhile but overall,  nothing serious. Shane has the ickies right now but again, doesn't seem to be serious!

The kids are desperate for spring break. For whatever reason, getting up in the morning is a challenge again. Well, mainly a challenge for one child with the initials CML but I'm not pointing any fingers :P Aside from getting up in the morning, school is going well. Cassandra's class is in the deep throws of fractions. Adding them, subtracting, multiplying...it's a walk down memory lane that I could do without so I let Shane help with her homework! HA! Savannah is great, her class is doing telling time the old fashioned way ;) Griffin is working on more sight words, fractions (Kindergarten style) and charts/graphs. Alyssa is the PTO queen with me. She is known throughout the school because we are there a lot! She is still talking up a storm, physically doing a lot more as far as climbing, dancing, knowing left/right, etc. One of the other gals in PTO w/ me has a little girl getting ready to turn 4 and she plays so nice with Alyssa. It's like mini-play-dates when we get together at school!

I'm down another pants size so that is 5 sizes since August. Only 3 more sizes to go ;) PTO is going well, we have our big spring fling in March (6th) and that has been very time consuming but in manageable spurts. Thankfully, the other two PTO ladies are so helpful and focused. I hope we have a good turn out! Shane got me playing World of Warcraft (WOW) and now I am totally hooked. I don't remember if I have told this or not...so I apologize if it's a repeat. I have been playing every single day. I joined the Guild Shane belongs too and they have some hilarious people in it who jump to help me with quests and such. My dad is now playing again and SO IS MOM! I've sucked everyone into the vortex with me it seems ;P but I love it! There, I admitted it!

Shane is good, despite his lil cold right now. Work is keeping him busy down at the Capitol. He's in Phoenix more than he's at the office for the next couple of months but he likes it.

My mom's birthday is tomorrow! We're going out for pizza and she is having cherry pie rather than cake. It won't be hard for me to turn that down for dessert :P I detest cherry pie! LOL My dad got a new Harley! I'll post pics as soon as I get a ride on it.

That's it for us, I hope all of you are doing great!

Update!

Hello!

Wow, is it the 13th already? Time is flying!

We've been keeping busy around here with all sorts of things. The kids are good. Sadly, we finally got sick LOL. I guess I knew it would happen since it had been so long! Savannah started with a sore throat back at the end of January. We went to the doc and were tested for Strep and it was negative. She missed a week of school for the throat and no voice. She went back to school this week but kept telling me how bad her throat still felt. We went back and they put her on an antibiotic because she was still pretty red! Griffin ended up getting an ear infection (first one in almost 4 years) and is on antibiotics too! Alyssa has a little head cold going on. Cassandra, for now, is still clear! But even with the sickies, nobody is slowing down...they have kept right on truckin'!

This week was busy with PTO. Angela (treasurer), Amy (secretary) and I went out all day on Tuesday to get donations and money for our Spring Fling. We did pretty well! Businesses were very generous! We had lunch together and then went to get the kids. Friday was full of Valentine parties for the kids and our first school dance. Amy and I blew up 200 balloons w/ the helium tank. Amy's dentist donated 800 pink and red balloons but we only used the 200, we saved some for next year ;) Alyssa and I were at school from 8-3 and then I went back at 4:30 to help set up for the dance. Shane brought the kids at 5:45 for the dance. We had a big turnout! It was a lot of fun and the kids all danced a lot.

My sister's bday was the 10th and we're going out to eat on Sunday to celebrate. Today I have to go take Cassandra shopping for a gift for her friend's party today. They are taking the kids to the movie Percy Jackson, she is very excited. Other than that, I hope to not do much at all today. The last few days have been very busy and very long!

Shane has Monday off as do the kids. We are going to downtown Phoenix to the USS Arizona exhibit and see the sights downtown. The kids are pretty excited!

That's about it (or what I can remember anyway!) I hope everyone is doing well and have a great Valentine's Day weekend!

My Grandma's Birthday

Yesterday was my grandma's birthday. She would have been 80 this year. It always amazes me how time flies and yet some things seem to stand perfectly still. It's hard to believe that she's been gone since 2002. So much has happened since then, it's sort of cruel how time just marches on and you look back at all the things that person has missed. And all that we've missed sharing with them. I mean, she has 2 great grandkids she never got to know. We have her pictures in the hall and all the kids point and talk about her. Even Griffin and Alyssa, even though they've never met her. We've told them so many stories and things that I think they feel like they know her a little. Alyssa walks by and points as she says, "That's my mamaw" so I guess it has sunk in.

There are lots of things I miss, she seemed to have the right thing to say when you really needed it. I mean, don't get me wrong, she could definitely say the wrong thing as well and I'd just crumble. But there are times when I am doing something and I can just hear her in my head, telling me one of her pearls of wisdom. LOL. Every time I see Savannah helping me with dinner I think of my grandma and how she loved to cook. I think of how much it would have meant to both Savannah and Mamaw to have been able to cook together. I don't know, so many things...I could ramble on forever. I guess bottom line is, while you miss someone so terribly for the physical reasons, hugs, kisses, conversations....they are never really gone because they never leave your mind or your heart. We can all talk about and "remember the time when...." and we're right back in the moment which is, I guess, the way we all live on in each other. Still, I would give just about anything to have a moment back so I could say the right things or just get a hug or ask her something I never took the time to ask. I guess I'll just have to wait until we meet again.
